ABOUT

My name is Miriam and I am a singer-songwriter and vocal coach.  I have lots of experience as a vocal and piano tutor in some of London's most prestigious areas like Notting Hill and Chiswick Park.

Working for the Notting Hill School Of Rock and Sound Generation has been a wonderful experience and taught me a great deal about what students need to thrive in an ever- changing pop music culture. My lessons are always fun and engaging and are aiming to support the natural voice with contemporary vocal technique with the desire to bring out the best in my students.

Originally from Heidelberg in Germany coming to London has given me the best opportunity to follow music wholeheartedly.
In 2012 I auditioned for the BMus Hons Vocal Degree (Grade 8 in music and Grade 6 in music theory) at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in Kilburn/London and successfully completed my studies in June 2015. Recent vocal tutors of mine have included Vic Bynoe, David Combes and singer- songwriter Nicki Rogers as well as world class cellist and arranger Audrey Riley.
All this gives me the ability to teach my own students to a very high standard but still make lessons fun and entertaining.

I mostly teach voice lessons for beginners to intermediate for singers of all ages (Grade 1- 8) as well as music theory and piano for beginners Grade 1 - Grade 4 but could also assist you with German lessons (if requested) or Music Theory & Aural Training(Grade 1-6).

Playing the piano and writing songs since the age of 6, I like the sound and feel of piano- driven pop music located in the singer/songwriter genre, as well as some Jazz and Folk.
At the age of 16 I started having classical singing lessons, but soon decided to switch to contemporary vocals to support the natural voice with contemporary technique.
In September 2012 I auditioned for the Degree Vocal Course of the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, one of Europe ́s leading school for Music Performance which I successfully completed in 2015.

Over the years I have had a constant involvement in bands, performing live together on stage, as well as performing solo with my piano at smaller events, weddings and outdoor festivals, covering a wide range of repertoire and recently released my first EP called "Glow" produced by JJ Mitchell.

From November - December 2018 I will participate in the Musical "Robin Hood (For Love and Justice)" in Willingen, Germany (only on weekends)

TEACHING APPROACH

Working for the Notting Hill School Of Rock, Sound Generation and MLC Academy has been a wonderful experience and taught me a great deal about what students need to thrive in an ever- changing pop music culture. My lessons are always fun and engaging and are aiming to support the natural voice with contemporary vocal technique with the desire to bring out the best in my students. Of course it is also important to me that students have a regular practice routine and this will also be encouraged.

I also offer help with the process of songwriting for students. In the past I had so many wonderful and creative students who loved to explore their musicality and write lyrics or songs of their own. I enjoy the creative process of developing new song ideas and am happy to offer my support for songwriters as well as vocalists who would like to develop an original ideas but can't play an instrument of their own.
