ABOUT

I’m currently majoring in viola performance at the Juilliard School. I’ve studied the violin for the majority of my life and just recently switched my focus to the viola. I’ve performed all around the world in solo, chamber, and orchestra concerts.

I’m originally from Toronto and have studied music performance, theory, and history at the Royal Conservatory. I’m hoping to expand my teaching experiences through the internet as it’s an amazing tool to meet students that are not available to meet in your community. I’m excited to share my passion for music with others!

TEACHING APPROACH

I believe that a student-catered approach is the most effective way to teach a student how to listen. As teachers teaching music, our end goal is for the students to learn how to listen to their own sound in order for them to become their own teacher.

Each player knows their playing style the best and knows what technique works for their own body. It’s important to take into account every individual student’s differences and for the teacher and the student to grow together in understanding of each other’s style. By keeping an open mind to the students needs, I think the student can grow effectively music this way.
My lesson consist of a balance of technical and musical teachings, taking into consideration how certain techniques can enhance the musical needs in a piece of music. I will also put a strong emphasis on practice techniques so that the student can learn and grow most effectively.
